Hi all,
The introduction…
It’s a peculiar social convention (then again, what social convention isn’t?) that starts the awkward “get to know each other” stage in any communicative process. It occupies the dubious position of both being almost completely irrelevant and painfully necessary; I mean, honestly, who really reads through the entire introduction of a book or remembers the college that any given speaker went to? That would involve way too much solicitousness on our part. We’re not nearly that selfless. We seem to be much more interested in what someone says rather than the particular details of who they are. Still, to skip such a well-established formality is considered rude. So, with both those thoughts in mind, I will attempt to briefly introduce this blog.
To be pointed, this blog is about making much of Jesus Christ and glorifying Him in whatever appears here. Whether it is on the topics of theology, contemporary issues, art, culture, a serious subject or something more light-hearted, our goal is to write and interact in such a way so that God is glorified. Neither David nor myself have the intention of making this blog about anything else than that. This blog doesn’t exist so we can be overly critical or so we can stand on our soap boxes and tell the world how we really feel. Rather, it’s our hope that whatever appears is encouraging and thought-provoking; that is produces healthy conversation and causes people to think deeply and biblically about the world around us.
We’re not saying you should agree with us on everything…not at all. Please disagree! We’re positive, as time goes on, we’ll get a good number of things wrong. That fact is what makes this type of thing so interesting and fruitful.
We’re not even saying that we should be listened to and we certainly don’t think our thoughts and positions should be imitated without a good deal of critical thought. We are flawed human beings, trying to get a grip on the reality around us, just like everyone else. But, insofar as what we say is biblical, insofar as it lines up with the heart and the mind of Christ, we hope that you find those thoughts encouraging, challenging and edifying.
With that, we welcome you.
